enismirdal1. Rubisco has clearly not read the chapter on how to be a sick hamster. Sick hamsters are not supposed to be manic or hyperactive or begging for treats. Rubisco is more energetic than she is normally. I'm actually wondering if she's got hyperthyroidism...
2. Submitted paper that got rejected the other week to a different journal. So far, nearly 36 hours have passed and it's not been rejected. This is a good start, but we'll see if it ends well. I estimate the odds of it actually getting accepted at about 15% so it's still going to need a good bit of luck!
3. There are rumours of a departmental escapade to Hyde Park Christmas Market this weekend. I saw the word "Glühwein" on the website and realised my ability to resist this would be weak.
4. New flatmate has finally moved in, and although he hasn't yet spent a night in his room, he has installed stuff in there and in the kitchen, so everyone now believes he's real. He's proven quite amenable to some gentle training, so that's good. He recycles, is starting to understand the prohibitive price of gas and thusly why we will not let this house be maintained at 21°C (70°F) or above, and has grasped that music with loud bass carries like an earthquake through ex-local authority maisonettes such as our own like nobody's business. As a result, all is well for now.
5. Last weekend a bunch of us went ice-skating at the Natural History Museum. It was good fun and although the wee Christmas Market there appeared rather lacking on the Glühwein front, and most of the stalls sold stuff way beyond my impulse-buy budget, I did succumb to a quite delightful cardigan/jacket/hoodie thing for £29.95. It's wool on the outside, with a polar fleece lining, and so is possibly the warmest item of clothing in the entire universe. It's also a nice green colour with awesome!orange embroidery on the cuffs and up the front. And has dongly bits. It's adorable. And very me. Oooh! I just found their website. http://www.pachamamaknitwear.com/ - they're also FairTrade and supporting initiatives in Ecuador and Nepal. Oh god...the rest of their range is TO DIE FOR. I want. I want so much... Me + warm winter woolies is a deadly combination... And these are so damned cute. With daisies on. I already have a Kathmandu sweater on order from another site, I really don't need any more woolies... *curls up in corner wondering how on earth she's supposed to not succumb to this*
