When Baytril first arrived, Sucrose's little yellow wheel soon proved to be rather small for her (Baytril is considerably bigger than Rubisco; anyone who tells you average weight for a Syrian hamster is 90-130g clearly knows some weird hamsters, as Rubisco is a comparatively small female and she's 142g on a small day. I rather suspect Baytril is not far short of 200g). As a result, Baytril was not pleased with it, and in her boredom resorted to chewing the cage.

She's also quite the little acrobat, and unlike Quinine has the arm-reach to do monkey bars rather well. My parents will attest to her prowess by the fact that I kept bursting out laughing whilst on the phone to them and watching her antics.

So in order to make her happier again, I ordered her a shiny new 8 and a half inch wheel to replace the old 6 inch one. It arrived today and I put it in when I cleaned her out (wow. A clean hamster is such a novelty! Her cage will only need cleaning once a week, unlike the other two...). She has given it her seal of approval, and 90% of the cage-chewing has stopped in favour of wheel-trundling. If only Rubisco were so easily pleased!

I have no idea what pet supply manufacturers are thinking when they make cages with those dinky little wheels. Dwarfs...fine. But Putting a Syrian hamster on a 6 inch wheel looks like a basketball player on the Piccadilly Line! The cage is barely big enough to fit the new wheel, but we squeezed it in with some rearrangement.

I love that in the wheel, the colour scheme is purple (wheel) and orange (hamster) - my favourite colour scheme!

To show you just how big the new wheel is compared with the old, here is her cage next to Quinine's, which has a regular 6 inch wheel...

So that's that. It's so weird not having a greyscale hamster! She's so...colourful. By the way, the slight bald patch on her nose is from cage-chewing at the rescue centre so I hope it will get fluffy again now. I haven't found her favourite food yet, but most things seem to have gained her approval!

Probably a good thing hamsters are totally colourblind!

Oh she's cute! :D That monkey climbing looks amazing. I'm sure I'd dislocate some limbs if I'd do something like that. :P

And couldn't ever be sick of hamster pics. :D

She is extremely good at all kinds of acrobatics. Since Rubisco has never been a big acrobat, and Quinine is too small to be able to take advantage of toys in the same way, it's been hilarious to watch!

Even though you posted describing her, I secretly still expected her to be white like the bottle of enrofloxacin.
