Both the Met Office and the BBC have suddenly revised the weather forecast for tomorrow. Earlier today it was predicting Monday would be wet and warmish (19°C/66°F) - suddenly they've decided it's going to be HOT and sunny with a whoppingly unseasonal 28°C/82°F! (But with a weather warning for some hardcore thunderstorms by dinnertime.)

I'll have to see if they change this prediction later on. If not I'll have to dig out some serious summer clothes!!

You better start digging then... we also had this last-minute forecast change, and rather than 20°C, we had 32° today! I sit on an icecube and try not to melt...

My gut feeling says Europe is in line for a hot, hot summer...

Agreed. And judging by the heavy storms we've already had, it will be a stormy one as well. Phew!

Dammit, that's not good :( I broke out the portable air conditioner today because my aquarium got to 26 degrees by 11am (should be max 24) and it looks like I'll struggle to keep it cool tomorrow. Damn, damn, damn! On the other hand, Anya is loving it!

Do you have a link to the Met office and/or BBC site you got the forecast from? I just looked and I must be being stupid (not an unusual occurrence) because I couldn't find where those temps were forecast and I'd like to be able to keep up.

The BBC page corresponding to my vague area is this one (http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/8?area=E2), and then looking at the 24 hour and 5 day forecasts. Since the code is all fancy and cookie-dependent, it may not display all the boxes right away so you might have to expand some collapsed boxes to see the info.

For the Met Office, I have the Met Office Firefox add-in which displays the current and forecast weather in my sidebar at the click of an icon. I just screencapped it here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v503/enismirdal/Screencap-1.jpg) for reference - the resolution's been shot by Photobucket but I promise that does say 28! On their website, if you skip on to the Monday afternoon temperatures here (http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/se/se_forecast_temp.html) - it doesn't show London quite reaching 28 but I won't rule it out. Your neck of the woods looks like it'll be more like 21 though, so no need to panic just yet.

Our fish tank in the lab has similar problems - the lab is poorly ventilated and the fish's light generates soooo much heat. I hope the fish survived the weekend, actually...the temperature has already peaked at 27 in that tank a few times and White Clouds don't really seem to like more than 24-ish.

Sounds like balancing fishy temperature against hedgehoggy temperature is quite an art form!! I'm glad Anya is happy with it! :D

Thank you, I really appreciate that :)

Balancing hoggy and fishy temps got very tricky today, so Anya now resides at the top of the stairs where it's as warm as the living room, while I have the PAC in the living room with the tank to keep it as cool as I can. The plan is to close the living room door and keep that room cool and leave Anya her lovely heat *crosses fingers that it works*

Yikes, 27! Hope the fish did indeed survive :/ I was looking at chillers for my tank but they are horrendously expensive, although I would have found the money for one from somewhere, but I discovered I can't actually run one on my tank anyway. I'm so glad I bought the PAC when it was on offer at Homebase, as I now have a chance of surviving the summer, not to mention keeping my (future) seahorses alive too!
