Meh. Poor [livejournal.com profile] girlofthemirror fainted in her practical (it involved blood tests, and her head doesn't like being blood-deprived). Poor Girly :(

Which is a pity, cos I've had such a lovely day. The Cells practical proved to be basically a couple of posters on meiosis and mitosis, and no cute demonstrator was immediately forthcoming. So we all quit the practical and went PUNTING!! Wooooooooooo! The punt did a couple of strange things before going straight, but our punters (i.e. Laura and Tzo) were pretty good altogether. I refused the pole as I was wearing my fave T-shirt and was not about to risk ruining it in the greenness of the Cam.

Then we all had a picnic in Emma grounds. The ducks there are total posers. They strut waddle aroundlooking pompous and hang around near groups of people so that everyone will chuck bread at them and take photos. It was highly amusing. Then lots of people juggled fruit and things, and I found that the glass balls which you can do funny things with also act as great lenses, so focused the sun through one and burnt a hole in the lid of one of those little catering Flora tubs. Pyromaniac Eni. Alas, no flames!

Too sunny. Returned to practical for the lecture/video demonstration at 2:15pm. Paid attention to some of it, but got bored of watching little green blobs which were meant to be chromosomes moving around and getting longer and shorter. Kind of like a kaleidoscope; pretty, but you can have too much of it.

And I've just realised I dropped a sheet of Eluréd/Elurín on the floor in that lecture, and forgot to pick it up. Ooops. I also have a feeling I haven't typed that bit up yet, so I may have to reconstruct if it's not there tomorrow. Meh.

T-shirts for our LOTR dramatic readthrough have arrived. Very snazzy - black and embroidered and posh. Cambridge, 19th June, Borders Bookstore - w00t!

Girly has a party tonight, which should be fun. It's a kind of overly belated birthday celebration. I can't believe I've been here less than a week - I feel so settled already. I love Cambridge :)

Oh, no! Let's hope no one picks it up! (Or maybe that's just me... I get terribly upset if someone sees a picture or something of mine before I want them to) How long is your Elured/Elurin (forgive me for not putting the accents in there; too lazy :D) fic turning out to be? I'm really excited about it; this is one idea I've never seen before (which is actually hard to believe), and I'm really interested in finding out what happens to them!!

Lol! I'm hoping it'll still be there when I go in for a lecture tomorrow *looks at clock* Well, technically, later today now. I did remember with a moment of alarm that it was the beginning of an R-rated smut scene, but it's only about 3/4 of an A4 side in very scribbly handwriting, on the back of an old sheet of maths work.

It's...um...getting longer. I'm guessing the equivalent of 30 A4 so far. I can actually picture the end now, although I wouldn't say I was close. It's pretty angsty and a bit sad; Eluréd's decided to go a bit broody on me, whereas Elurín seems like more of an optimist, but rather insecure. I think Eluréd is really the muse driving it.

There's a bit of it up on my spare blog (http://www.xanga.com/enismirdal) (please let me have remembered the URL right!); unbeta'd, a bit rough, and totally slash-free at that point.

PS Does your keyboard have the quick CTRL+ALT+vowel to add acute accents to vowels? My brother tried to sell me that short way to do it (tennage boys, honestly!) about 2 years ago. So I found it myself and sneered at him. :D

Wow! I read it; it sounds great so far! :D I can't wait for mooooore. :) About being slash-free: I'm actually purely interested in the plot (can you believe it?).

Not anymore, I'm on a laptop now, so the keyboard is a bit smaller and some things have been taken away, like the number pad that is usually to the right. So now I have to open up Microsoft FrontPage, insert the symbol, copy it, and paste it into whatever I'm writing. That's actually how I used to do it, anyway, because I'm bad at memorizing sets of numbers.
