Hole.
My brother is digging a hole. It is currently 6 feet long and 5 feet wide and around 3 feet deep.
My brother: "It's 20m deep. It's just that most of it still has soil in."

I do not know why he is digging the hole. But it is big, and looks silly. And I think the local cats are using the steadily-growing pile of soil next to it as a giant kitty litter tray.

Sprouts.
Sprouts in my guinea pig. She is a black abyssinian. Last September, I noticed a lump on her underside, next to her nipple. She's been on and off antibiotics since.

Since Easter, the lump has grown much bigger, more or less doubling in size. The vet says it is a tumour, and is reluctant to operate because of her age (4 and a half years). Still, her coat is glossy, her appetite is huge and she's her usual, perky self. She'd make a great goth.

Now, recently, I noticed that next to the lump there was a small wound. We were putting healing unction on it twice daily for about a week. Then one day when my mum was bathing it, she managed to squirt a load of white, odourless, squidgy stuff out of the wound. Loads came out, and her lump is now half the size it was. We took her back to the vet's, wanting to know what on earth was going on. The vet said it could be either an infection (except she doesn't seem to be in pain from it), or maybe the tumour has caused her mammary gland to make milk, and this has collected in a pocket and was making its way out by the weakest route. So she's on antibiotics again, and we have to keep bathing it twice a day and hope it heals.

Flower.
Flower (short for Cauliflower) is the other guinea pig. It's her birthday in 3 days; she will be 4. She's part sheltie, so her bum-hair is very long. It's also white. And because guinea pigs are not naturally very clean, like bunnies, it tends to end up brown after a while. She needs a bath soon. I'll have to do that.

Thunderstorm
There was a big thunderstorm last night. It was incredibly loud, kept me awake for some time, and made me worried sick about the poor guineas. Luckily, no rain got into the hutch, everything outside seems intact, and looking at the weather today, you'd never believe it had happened at all. Apparently, more is due tonight...

Is your brother a goth? Even if he is, digging his own grave is a bit extreme...

Professional wassname prevents me from commenting on your guinea pigs. I hope sprouts gets better, though!

Goth...nah. Gothness takes too much effort for him to bother.

Thanks about Sprouts, although I'm not convinced it's ever going to disappear! :-|
