Grammar God!
You are a GRAMMAR GOD!

If your mission in life is not already to
preserve the English tongue, it should be.
Congratulations and thank you!

How grammatically sound are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

I'm sure that's gotta be a plus as a beta reader, right?

I'm sure some of those questions had more than one answer, depending on context...

I think some of the questions are wrong as well: splitting infinitives is apparently a myth (people still say the sentance typically sounds better without, though I'm not sure I agree, but that's a matter of style); "taller than him" is defended by grammer experts (where 'him' is being treated as an object measuring hight, as opposed to he' a contraction of 'he is' ); I think even the most pedantic people allow 'It is me' these days; that or who is fine for a puppy, isn't it? etc. It was difficult to find this out - I took the quiz giving the answers I thought they expected, and got God, and then changed all the ones I disagreed with, and got Master.

Hehe. According to Chambers:

Splitting infinitives
"The two words should generally not be separated (split) by the insertion of additional words or phrases, but can be where sense or style require it."

This is the principle I use when betaing, anyway.

'It is me'
Don't have quote to hand, since it's in my brother's book and not my dictionary, but the gist was that the verb 'to be' only takes 2 equal subjects when followed by a subordinate clause or similar, i.e. "It was I who killed him," is correct, whereas the line from that hymn, "It is I, Lord," actually is not.

And I guess a puppy should only be 'who' if you know it well enough to give it a gender...

I can't find a good citation for 'it is I/me' so guess I'll just take your word for it. Wow, I guess you really are a grammar God - though I wonder how you passed their test if so :)
