I am back in Cambridge and seem to be on the go already!

Birthday shoutout for the lovely Melpomaen - technically it's not your birthday any more over here, but since it still is where you are, I think I've got away with being disorganised and late.

I am, in fact, alive. I am also settling nicely into my new flat in Cambridge. ( Flat! )

After a power glitch last night and another this morning, the network has been muchly on the flutz. But hey, I took advantage of the time until it returned to run a defrag, which seems to have improved the speed of my computer marginally. Am pleased. Flatmate seems to have crowned himself the 'Techie Man', although he still didn't make my loudspeakers work (they seem to have acquired a power lead that I swear I've never seen before, and I can't work out where to plug it in ^^).

Am ready to start new term and get back to work now, I think! :D

Spending!

Attempted to pick up nanette to give him a tour of Cambridge. Unfortunately, on all 3 occasions that I came along and knocked on his door, he didn't answer, therefore presumably was not in. So gave up, assuming he was busy, and went shopping instead.

Getting around to looking at the label on the plant, I discover it is a Maranta or prayer plant or banded aragornarrowroot. It's pretty. It looks like this one:

(Only it has smaller, narrower leaves with more dark on them, and generally is more dense.)

It was very thirsty when it got home to I watered it. I am going to call it Penlod. :D Penlod Prayer Plant. Pretty cool.

Have discovered one of flatmates is arachnaphobic --> I get lots of opportunities to ingratiate myself by removing spiders from the bathroom. Good deal :)

Oh, and I have been terribly industrious and spent 45 minutes doing reading in the library on pathology and developmental biology. Go me!
